Founder's StoryIt may sound unusual, but the word "Dhyana" (pronounced: "Dee-aa-naa") has deep roots. It's a Sanskrit word that in Hindu and Buddhist practice means "profound meditation". It is the foundation of Zen, and central to Dhyana Cleaning’s values, mission and approach: restoring balance and revitalizing energy.
We truly believe that a clean home inspires clarity by stopping the mind’s racing thoughts and engaging in activities that bring calm, peace and joy. History & MissionFounded by Katie Shulist in 2004 (under the original name Clean By Nature), Dhyana Cleaning’s overall mission is to provide the highest level of customer service excellence within Toronto’s residential cleaning providers. The Birth of a Social Purpose Business
After graduating from university in 2002, Katie began her career in the corporate marketing industry, but from the very beginning felt an overwhelming urge to start her own business.
Soon, Katie said “Adios!” to the corporate world, deciding to embark upon an entrepreneurial path that leveraged her personal love of cleaning. This led to the creation of her green cleaning service & company.
Katie cleaned clients’ homes during the day and meticulously studied the industry at night, driven by the vision of developing a very different kind of cleaning business – one that was born out of her industry knowledge and her hands-on experience cleaning homes, while incorporating her love and belief in green and Zen philosophies.
Today, those beliefs are the bedrock of Dhyana cleaning as well as how Katie and her team approach the art and service of cleaning their clients’ treasured homes: with humility, freedom and the joy of serving others.
